First of all, I would like to start saying that this post was inspired by Erica’s blog and instagram. Erica is the author of weareglamerus.com and she is probably the only Beauty Blogger I follow regularly. And one of the reasons I have been following her is because she reviews drugstore beauty products as well, which are much more purse-friendly and a great start to anyone who doesn’t know much about beauty products. Second, this is totally not my usual type of post, but we are in 2019 and it’s time for me to open my door a little bit more and talk about other wellbeing-related topics. Beauty is one of those topics and women like myself who have put brains over beauty all their life shouldn’t feel ashamed to talk and share about beauty.
I’m not the greatest expert on applying makeup – and especially when I’m in a rush. My eyeshadow and eyeliner are not usually perfectly blended, my mascara gets clogged sometimes, and my lipstick is not always even. I’m glad I do so many “mistakes” though, because I want to let you know that we don’t need to be perfect to run the day. All we have to do is to give our best and show up, because sometimes we don’t really have the time or the mood to photoshop our face to the tiniest detail. We just DON’T!
I’m personally a big fan of the Victoria Secret Angels’ Makeup style, so that’s what I try to base my makeup on. If I want a more dramatic look, I apply a brownish eyeshadow (picture above), but I make sure I don’t overdo it for work (we are not going to have a date with bae, are we?!). If I want a lighter look (picture below), I usually only apply some eyeliner on my eyelids and then smudge it closer to my eyelashes.
In terms of colours, here are my current picks:
- Lipstick – Vintage Rose
- Blush – Candy Cotton
- Eyeshadow – Snowflake, Brownie’licious
I guess I have been pretty dramatic the last couple of times I have applied makeup. Life needs to get lighter… I do start to feel like Winter is passing by at the speed of light and soon it will be time to bloom. But in the meantime, if you are reading me from from the south hemisphere, please let us know how’s your Summer and what do you think about using makeup as a self-empowerment tool!
