Whether you know it or not, your life experiences are predominantly physical and mental in nature. This is true for almost 95% of the world’s population.
Essentially these individuals have a completely different experience of life than the average human being. The average human being is engrossed in psychological drama, prejudices, and opinions. When we talk of transformation, in many ways we’re inferring evolution, and that’s what this post is about.
How can one move from the 95% to the 5%? Obviously, some action is required in order for this to happen. Each of the tips listed below will focus on a specific action you must take. Repeat the action on a consistent basis, and the difference will be there for you to see!
This post is in many ways a reflection of my own journey. A journey I started 12 months ago in an attempt to improve my inner well being.
It is my hope that these 9 little nuggets bring well being into your life, as they have into mine. Some of the things I talk about may be confusing or unclear to you, but I only ask that you contemplate and reflect with an open mind. Doing this can open up a whole new world of possibilities!
#1 Eat Raw Fruits & Vegetables!
Let’s start off simple! Tip #1 is to include in your diet a good portion of raw fruit and vegetables. When I say raw, I mean uncooked. Whatever you’re eating should be as fresh as possible.
Why should you consume raw fruits and vegetables? Instead of linking you to a reputable source which lists several benefits of eating raw, you must try it for yourself!
Whip up a kale/spinach salad for lunch and see how you feel 2 hours after. Maybe replace your morning coffee with a green smoothie and see how your day goes.
You’ll begin to notice that raw fruits/vegetables take less time to pass through the digestive system. When was the last time you felt energized and vibrant after lunch? Skip the hamburger and get the salad instead! Now just to be clear, I’m not saying you should become a vegan, all I’m saying is to somehow incorporate more fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Emphasis on daily!
#2 Establish A Massage Routine!
For most people massage is one of those things you do at the end of the year to make the most of your benefits.
My advice to you: don’t be like most people!
When you establish a massage routine, you’re in essence committing a certain amount of time every week (or 2 weeks) to focus on just that. Your counter response to that will be “Well, I just don’t have the time, nor the money!” If you want your mind to feel good, your body must also feel good. Are you ever happy when your achy back just won’t quit? How about when the heels of your feet hurt so bad you can’t stand!
If done properly, massage can be an incredibly natural way to heal the body!
In 2019, there’s several options:
- Seek the services of a trained therapist from a reputable massage establishment.
- Invest in automated massage technology. There’s plenty of awesome gadgets to pick from such as massage chairs, handheld massagers etc.
- Invest in less expensive, manual massage equipment such as rollers and balls.
As we go through this list, when we talk of transforming your life, you need to consider all aspects i.e. physical and muscular, diet, emotional, mental etc. It’s not enough to check off the things you like and ignore the ones you dislike. In order to have true transformation, all things must be considered!
#3 Meditate Daily!
This one really hits home. I started meditating about 4 months ago, and I can safely say I am no longer the same person I was then. Almost everything about me has changed.
The way I look at life, what I consider important, my goals and aspirations, all have taken a full 180!
It sounds exaggerated and over the top, but it’s true. As massage treats your physical, meditation in many ways treats your mental. It helps quieten the noise and chatter in your mind, so you start to see things for what they are.
When should you meditate and for how long? I usually meditate in the morning when I wake up and in the evening before I shower. Each time lasts about 20 minutes. I’ve had great success with the Isha Kriya guided meditation (offered by Isha Foundation), so that’s what I recommend. The full guided video is below (Credit: Wert Er YouTube Channel).
If you’re interested to know more about my experience with Isha Kriya, here’s an in-depth post I wrote detailing my personal experiences.
