Life Is In The Small Things

After yesterday‘s episode, I decided to create space in my daily routine to recover some of the good habits I had. Eating mindfully under the sun, nurturing seeds of kindness, and being more aware of opportunities to improve my wellbeing throughout the day, and in the future, have been a priority. I chose to have a solid breakfast, I bought salad for lunch, and I managed to be kind to myself and others. I slowed down my pace and I took the time to say or share something nice with others.

I sent a positive message to one of my best friends who has been struggling with anxiety as much as me, I tried to say I remember you to my other half, and I sat in a sunny place to have my delicious salad. Afterwards, I picked a wild flower to offer to the person who chatted with me yesterday about being fed up of pretty much everything. I didn’t leave without her sharing another nugget of wisdom. We have to live one day at a time, haven’t we? We must let the confusion settle and then act assertively, she said.

I know she’s right. It’s just difficult to remember and practise these principles when we are overwhelmed and overloaded. Life would be easier if everyone paid attention to the power of character strengths and virtues, but that’s not the world we live in just yet so we can’t really give up when reality goes against our expectations and goals. The world is going through huge changes and our collective consciousness has been constantly bombarded by fake, horrible, and terrifying news. In other words, most of us have been disconnected from what’s really important in life.

You do have to be the change you want to see in the world and do your best to make the golden rule – do unto others what you would have them do unto you – true at all times without forgetting that you too are a human being with rights and duties. As I mentioned yesterday, we are all in this together. Each one of us is going through two different paths at the same time. One deals with individual healing; the other with collective change and transformation. Whatever is going on out there it is mirrored or can be found in our daily life in the form of smaller events and wounds that require our attention and loving care.

Mark down my words. We are living a unique and exquisite moment in the History of Humankind. We are being almost forced to look into what many have been ignoring or being oblivious from. We are being asked to question and ponder the possibility of building a more peaceful, kind, just, and nurturing society with a political system more transparent and truthful, and an economy in which everyone has a chance to nurture their own wellbeing while contributing to a greater and more conscious human collective.

While we make the transition, we must remember ourselves that life is in the small things.
